Drilling

Drilling is a cutting process in which a drill bit is inserted into the drill to cut or enlarge holes in solid materials. They are used for drilling depending upon the type of holes and the time.

In drilling process a hole is created or enlarged by using multi point tools, end cutting tools, fluted tools.


As the drill is rotational movement it advances into the workpiece and metal removal is done in the form of continous chips which moves along the flute.

  • Reaming
  • Tapering
  • Counterboringg
  • Countersinking
  • Centering
  • Spotfacing
